Drilling and Machining Services
Note: We recognized early on that drilling holes is one of the most critical processes in manufacturing shell and tube exchangers and we are subsequently set up to handle this step with ease and accuracy.

Our capacity for drilling and machining intentionally exceeds the production needs of our shop, from both the quantity and size capacity stand point. This allows us to respond rapidly to emergency situations without compromising existing work schedules. Also, it allows us to market our drilling and machining services to outside work. Approximately 18 percent of our drilling work is provided to other manufacturers who do not have our capacity in this area.
Some examples of this are as follows:
Our Floor type Union Mill (6'' bar, 102'' capacity facing head) allows us to produce new large units as well as repair gasket surfaces, pass plates and lanes on large exchangers and vessels effectively.
Our 74'' Bullard is one of eight Vertical Boring Mills that aid our overall capacity to produce quickly and with quality.
Specialized production equipment includes our 6 spindle deburring machine.
Computer Controlled Automatic Drills
Available are five CNC automatic drills with lift tables drilling an 18'-0'' SS tube sheet and 12'-6' 'x 6 ½'' thick CS tube sheet. (Weight was 33,000# and had 10,000# removed in drilling.)
Vessels, towers, exchangers, fabricated piping, components, shafts (those shown are for ships), forgings, etc. are stress relieved/ heat treated in our two furnaces:
Furnace cladding of brass/C.S. tube sheets is also accomplished. Note: We also provide local stress relieving services in house.

Our state of the art multi-tasking server easily supports our engineering efforts. We currently maintain six fully equipped CAD stations and ten design/estimating stations. This combined with our extensive knowledge of heat exchangers and application of our time proven design and modeling techniques allows us to produce top quality designs, estimates, and drawings to meet your needs in as short a time as possible.

We maintain an inventory of 50,000 stock taper plugs for immediate delivery for 5/8", 3/4", 7/8" and 1" tubes in carbon steel, 316 S/STL and brass. We can setup for and / or stock for any metallurgy desired and sizes up to 1 5/8" O.D. We can provide rapid response to your small and large quantity emergency tube plug needs (standard or custom).
Plug dimensions can be customized to suit individual needs on custom orders.
Uniquely Specialized Tooling & Equipment
Three of twelve Cybertig Automatic Tube Welders (also have wire feed) performing C.S. tube to tube sheet seal welding. Units are used for seal and strength welds on C.S., S.S., Monel, Cu/Ni, and other alloys such as titanium (shown) that are operated in our "Clean Room" facility.
High Pressure Units are both fabricated and repaired at our facility.
Special tooling includes 10,000 PSI bolt tensioning equipment.
Production Tube End to Tube sheet Seal & Strength Welding
Tube sizes 1/2" to 3 1/2" O.D. for almost any metallurgy. We maintain eight custom tube end welding machines. One operator can run 3 - 5 machines, depending upon size of work piece, thereby allowing us to offer very quick turnaround on work, not to mention the quality weld produced due to the automated welding process.
Custom CNC Lathe Work (General Machining)
Small to large production runs on parts made from 1 5/8" O.D. round bar and smaller.
Sherex Computer Tube Expanding
Our plant is one of two in the United States that own and utilize Sherex Computer Controlled Tube Expansion equipment.
Special Projects such as economizers and 825 Inconel drilled sieve sleeves are performed by our craftsmen. Innovative thinking allows us to solve our clients' problems quickly.
For one of our customers, a floating head was produced in 24 hours from a forging in lieu of waiting 3 - 4 weeks for a formed head. The customer was in "Plant-down" condition.
Custom flanges and other components are routinely designed and fabricated in our shop for many customers.
We also provide a number of plants and competing fabricating shops with top quality:
Tube sheets - Tube Plugs - Baffles - Flanges - Nozzles - Floating Heads - Finned Pipe- Tubes
Manufacturing Experience:
We have been fabricating this type of equipment since the company was founded in 1968.
